The Modernist Studies Association, created in 1998 as a discussion forum open to contemporary interdisciplinary dynamics, testifies to the increasing vitality of studies on Modernism. Its main programmatic aim is the study of the arts in their social, political, cultural and intellectual contexts from the late 19th to the mid-20th century. Among other activities, it organizes an annual conference and publishes the journal Modernism/Modernity (four issues per year), at present the most relevant periodical publication in the area of Modernist Studies. It also awards an annual Book Prize to the work that made the most significant contribution to modernist studies the previous year. The website has a restricted access area for members of the Association, which includes online access to its journal. The free access area is well organised, with easy navigation, and offers clear, although brief, information on activities and initiatives developed by the MSA.
